Last week Ada Lovelace Sixth Form welcomed Guy Richardson to begin the Leadership Programme. This session introduced students to the principles of effective leadership including the traits of a leader, ways to earn respect from your team, how to communicate effectively, how to collaborate with others, the importance of being flexible and much more.

This programme will feed into student’s leadership projects throughout the year. Students will be working in small teams in order to put on a fundraising event in the school, having to plan, organise, promote and liaise with staff in the school in order to put on an event that will raise money for charity.

We know what huge impact leadership roles have on developing student’s soft skills such as their ability to problem solve, communicate, and build confidence. We also know the importance of soft skills to future employers, which is a key reason why we focus on this throughout the sixth form at Ada Lovelace.
