Shaun is one of our Year 13 Digital T Level students who has just completed a 9-week placement (as part of his T Level course) at Amazon as a Project Manager in their UK Apprenticeship team. We hear from him about his experience.

During my time at Amazon, I have been a part of numerous projects. The first three weeks of the placement were all about being welcomed into Amazon and becoming familiar with the community and cohort.

Weeks four and five revolved around our team project which correlated directly to the Occupational Specialism Project - the assessment we do in Year 13. The team project allows us to put theory into practice by using our learning to create websites, programmes and designs. We had to design and program a website that informs people about T Levels as a whole and specifically at Amazon.

Weeks six to eight involved being placed in a team, where I worked closely with other team members on day-to-day tasks as well as my own individual project, which in my case was creating an internal website to portray early talent to all Amazonians.

In week nine, the final week of the placement, we presented our individual project to our department as well as at a formal graduation event. I felt that my potential had been recognised when I was asked to project manage the entire T Level graduation event with over 250 guests in attendance including my teachers and special guests such as Dave Hardcastle, Director Software Development in Prime Video & Studios CoreTech.

Studying a Digital T Level and completing industry placements has been an incredible experience and learning adventure for me. I would never have seen myself in a position like this if it weren’t for T Levels. However, I can now say, with 100% confidence, that studying for a T Level has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. There are very few people my age who have been given the opportunities that T Levels can offer, and these experiences are exactly what employers are looking for. Through T Levels, I have become more confident, knowledgeable, and experienced.
